In my experience, it doesn't normally do this. It MAY do this when upgrading from a prior OS, maybe even when going to the next major build (although I have not witnessed the latter) - but in those cases it tells you what applications will be removed because they are incompatible and it can/does save that list to the desktop of the upgrading user account.
